Aki Takase


Aki Takase is a musician who is internationally active in jazz and improvisational music scene mainly of Europe. Since 1987 lives in Berlin. Started playing with Alexander Von Schlippenbach and Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. From autumn 1997 to winter 2000 she worked as a guest-lecturer at the university for music "Hans Eisler" in Berlin. She received the German Record Critics Award for five times, and also the critic-prize of the "Berliner Newspaper"(1999), the SWR Jazz Award 2002. Her CD "Plays Fats Waller"(Enja/Muzak) got the best record of the year of the German Record Critics Award 2004. She is appreciated internationally and is playing in many places in the world. She performed lately with "Fats Waller project", "Aki and the Good Boys", duo with Alexander von Schlippenbach, Rudi Mahall and Lauren Newton. Also she had many concerts of duo performance with Yoko Tawada, a novelist living in Germany. CD : "LOK.03"(Leo), "Procreation"(Enja/Muzak) and many others.
